Found an error, or have a
question? Here's how to reach us.

NYC Affordability has no support inbox, no live chat, and no phone line — it's a small, open-source project maintained in the open. The fastest and only way to reach the maintainer is through GitHub.

Report an outdated rate or source

Every default value on this site — mortgage rates, mansion tax tiers, AMI income limits, reserve requirements — is pulled from a named source and reviewed periodically, but rates and thresholds change over time. If you spot a figure that's out of date or a source link that's broken, open an issue on GitHub with the page, the figure, and a link to the current correct value if you have one. This is the single most useful kind of report you can send — it directly improves the site for every future visitor.

Report a calculator bug

If a calculator is producing a result that looks wrong — a formula that doesn't match its "How this works" explanation, a number that doesn't update correctly, or a display issue — open an issue describing the inputs you used and what you expected versus what you saw. Screenshots help but aren't required.

Suggest a feature or a new guide topic

Ideas for a new calculator, a comparison feature, or a guide topic this site doesn't cover yet are welcome the same way — open an issue describing what you'd find useful. Since this is a side project maintained by one person, there's no guaranteed turnaround, but every issue gets read.

Why GitHub, and not an email address

Routing everything through GitHub Issues keeps reports public and searchable — if you've hit an issue, there's a decent chance someone else has too, and a public issue means you can see whether it's already been reported or fixed, rather than sending a message into a void. It also matches how the project itself is run: the full source code is public, so anyone can verify exactly how a number is calculated rather than taking it on faith.

What this isn't

This site provides free, informational calculators — it isn't a substitute for a mortgage broker, real estate attorney, or co-op board, and the maintainer isn't in a position to give individualized financial or legal advice. For guidance specific to your situation, see the licensed-professional links on the About page or consult a mortgage professional and real estate attorney directly.
